The regional transport network

Since 2002, the Regional Councils have been responsible for regional public transport. They decide on :
  • the services provided (number of trains, timetables, stops),
  • regional pricing,
  • service quality targets in stations and on trains,
  • the contribution towards helping these public services break even,
  • the financing of investment in equipment, infrastructures and interchanges.

In Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the Regional Council is responsible for 3 public transport networks :
  • the "Lignes Express Régionales" (LER)
  • the "Trains Express Régionaux" (TER)
  • the "Chemins de Fer de Provence" (CP)
