The regional transport network
Since 2002, the Regional Councils have been responsible for regional public transport. They decide on :
- the services provided (number of trains, timetables, stops),
- regional pricing,
- service quality targets in stations and on trains,
- the contribution towards helping these public services break even,
- the financing of investment in equipment, infrastructures and interchanges.
In Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the Regional Council is responsible for 3 public transport networks :
- the "Lignes Express Régionales" (LER)
- the "Trains Express Régionaux" (TER)
- the "Chemins de Fer de Provence" (CP)
